The Jurkowitz Center for Community Engagement, a program of the Santa Barbara Center for the Performing Arts, identifies unmet community needs related to the performing arts and through the appropriate fulfillment of those needs, ensures The Granada Theatre remains a cultural center that accurately represents and is engaged with the Santa Barbara community.
The Center was established in 2014 by Irma and Morrie Jurkowitz who have been residents of Santa Barbara for over fifty years. One-time owners of The Granada Theatre and the tower building above it, they established the Jurkowitz Center for Community Engagement in honor of their daughter and grandson, Debbie and Michael Nesbit, who loved the performing arts and music education.
Programs and engagement efforts established under The Jurkowitz Center include: Community Access Ticketing, Youth Programming, Community Vouchers, and the Community Engagement Space. These programs are made possible by our outstanding donors. For more information about these efforts or to donate to The Jurkowitz Center, please contact the Development department at development@granadasb.org.
